Informed Consent
Except in the case of an emergency, medical personnel must obtain a patientsŐs agreement (informed consent) to any course of treatment. Medical personnel are required to tell the patient anything that would substantially affect the patientŐs decision. Such information typically includes the nature and purpose of the treatment, its risks and consequences and alternative course of treatment.
